MIRROR NEVER LIES...

A glass before him smiled,

as if it shared his joy.

It was an empty room, and

it was his only companion.

The silence sounded loud,

interrupting the glass's smile.

Fear began to haunt his past,

and the glass trembled in reply.

With its edge, imperfect but whole,

the glass shone like his conscience, tilting

gently in the breeze, towards the faintest light

slipping through a broken wooden window.

His loneliness gave him time to see,

how life went wrong gradually,

from a small fight’s silent start,

to a tangled mess that broke his heart.

His short temper pushed him away

from a love that wanted him to stay.

His attitude settled, but patience remained

a challenge he still struggled to gain.

He chose to be with her, not to understand.

What once was good turned harsh and cold.

His flashes faded before they could last,

waiting for love to come and meet him at last.

His house and mind both needed care,

The glass lay shattered upon the floor.

The frame of his conscience emerged to stare,

Reflecting the guilt he could bear no more.

His cry was loud enough to fill the silent room.

His tone grew softer as patience began to bloom.

Joy filled his girl’s heart, sparked by his change.

She was ready to stay; he was ready to understand.
